China Uses COVID Pass to Restrict Movement

Armstrong Economics Blog/Tyranny Re-Posted Jun 21, 2022 by Martin Armstrong

People believed that governments would use tracker apps solely for COVID purposes. Sadly, the Chinese are quickly learning the harsh reality – the apps were always intended to control the masses. Over $6 billion (39 billion yuan) has been frozen, and thousands of people are unable to access their bank accounts. A few banks in rural Henan reported bank runs, and residents were planning a protest after finding that their funds were frozen.

Conveniently, the COVID tracing app is required to enter the bank. Users need to scan their QR codes to enter most public places. It has been reported that thousands of COVID-negative individuals had their status changed via the app, restricting their movement and making public places inaccessible.

Numerous depositors were taken to quarantine camps. CNN reported on one individual who was forced to spend the night in a quarantine camp after his code falsely showed he came into contact or was infected with COVID. He was permitted to leave the following day, but since his code was still inactive, he was not permitted to board the train home. As the lockdowns have shown, government tyranny is certainly not restricted to China. If it happened there, it could happen anywhere.

Wealthy Flee Shanghai

Armstrong Economics Blog/China Re-Posted Apr 22, 2022 by Martin Armstrong

The lockdown in Shanghai has caused immeasurable damage to the people and battered an already stunted global supply chain. The wealthy are now fleeing the city, as numerous agencies have reported a large uptick in immigration requests. The Financial Times reported a 7-fold increase in the search term “immigration” among residents.

The media has downplayed this story as they do not want the people to remember governments’ capabilities. As with the fall of many great cities, the wealthy are the first to leave. Shanghai may be one of the richest cities in China, but it is not immune to government tyranny.

Only 25 deaths in Shanghai were attributed to the coronavirus, but over 25 million people directly suffered from this lockdown. The lockdown was not about safety. Warehouses are beginning to open, but the world’s largest port ceased operations. Again, no world leaders commented heavily on these major issues.

Pets of the “infected” were eliminated by the government. There were reports of people jumping from high rises and others begging the police to take them to jail with the hope of having a meal. No world leaders have commented on these human rights abuses as they were done in the name of COVID.

The World’s Busiest Shipping Port is Closed

Armstrong Economics Blog/China Re-Posted Apr 13, 2022 by Martin Armstrong

Shanghai went under a full lockdown at the end of March under China’s zero-COVID tolerance policy. When cases allegedly rose, China extended the lockdown indefinitely. Shanghai hosts the busiest container port in the world, and its inability to operate is contributing to the supply chain crisis in a profound way. A member of the EU Chamber of Commerce’s Shanghai Chapter estimated that volume was down by 40% during the first week that the ports were prohibited from operating. There is no set date for when the port will resume operation.

It is estimated that the lockdown currently imposed has imprisoned an alarming 25 million Chinese citizens in their homes, but the implications of shutting down the world’s largest shipping port amidst a supply crisis will send aftershocks throughout the global economy. To understand how crucial Shanghai’s port is to the global flow of goods, the Port of Shanghai hosts over quadruple the volume of the Port of Los Angeles (one of America’s largest shipping ports).

Those in the industry warned that this would cause problems. One of the largest international container companies, Maersk, said that Shanghai’s shutdown would cause a 30% rise in trucking costs alone.

Some businesses are operating the “closed loop” system where employees are basically unable to leave their place of work. Still, the port cannot operate with the current restrictions as there are simply not enough available workers. This is completely unsustainable. China is throwing gas on the rapidly burning supply chain and inflation crises with their current policies that will be felt across the world.

People Are Starving Under Shanghai’s Lockdown

Armstrong Economics Blog/China Re-Posted Apr 12, 2022 by Martin Armstrong

People are starving in Shanghai. The screams heard in the disturbing video above are due to more than mere frustration. China placed millions under a strict lockdown that was initially supposed to last for five days. As cases allegedly spread, China extended the lockdown indefinitely under their zero-COVID tolerance policy.

Those who prepared for a five-day lockdown are now rationing what food and water they have left. The tap water is not necessarily safe for consumption, and people have begun to boil water if they have the means to do so. According to my sources, people living within communities rally together to buy bulk food orders when possible for a premium. China is offering a closed-loop system for some workers, who must live at their job site for the remainder of the lockdown. Therefore, workers are in short supply, and demand is extremely high. Hungry citizens typically log on to food delivery apps early in the morning and usually only have a few minutes to place their bulk orders. The food they receive is carefully rationed as the next meal is not guaranteed.

The barter system always emerges in times of disaster. People are trading with one another where possible, although they are forbidden from actually leaving their residences. No one is permitted to visit relatives or check on the elderly or disabled. Worse, people are unable to access medical care or prescription drugs. The government continues to provide rationed food, but its rollout has been so ineffective that most simply do not have access to food.

China will allow its people to die from dehydration and starvation to protect them from a virus with a negligible death rate. This is how revolutions begin.

Tucker Carlson Recaps the Ongoing Horrors in Shanghai, China

During his opening segment tonight, Fox News host Tucker Carlson gave a summary explanation of the horrors in Shanghai, China.  The city of 25 million residents has been locked down by the Chinese Communist Party as an outcome of their zero COVID policy. {Direct Rumble Link}

Desperate people are running out of food and have been locked in their homes from the outside by regional authorities.  The pets, including cats and dogs of residents who tested positive to the COVID-19 virus, have been confiscated and killed by the government.  The scenes and sounds from the area are very troubling as thousands of people scream into the night begging for help and mercy. WATCH:
