Mexican President-Elect Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador: “We are conscious of the need to maintain good relations with the United States”…

Mexico’s president-elect Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador “AMLO” easily won yesterday’s election with 54% of the vote; the highest vote total in three decades.  In addition his MORENA party won an absolute majority in both the Mexican Senate (38% +/-) and the Chamber of Deputies (38% +/-).

The multinational financial community is in the process of evaluating how the nationalist win will impact all prior investing.  One of the key issues is NAFTA.  Multinational corporations have poured billions into Mexico as a structural method to utilize the trade deal to gain access to the U.S. market.

Despite his campaign position, AMLO is now affirming a positive intention to renegotiate NAFTA; however, he is speaking from both sides of the current issue.  Example:

[Today] Lopez Obrador said he supports reaching a deal on renegotiating the North American Free Trade Agreement with the United States and Canada.

[…]  Lopez Obrador said he will propose that his own team of experts be included in the talks. The winning candidate said he will make that proposal in a meeting Tuesday with current President Enrique Pena Nieto.

Lopez Obrador told Televisa that he will respect the current team of negotiators, and let them continue representing Mexico until he takes office Dec. 1.

[…] Lopez Obrador said individual and property rights would be guaranteed, promised respect for the autonomy of the central Bank of Mexico and said his government will maintain financial and fiscal discipline.

He said contracts obtained under energy reforms passed under President Enrique Pena Nieto will be scrutinized for any corruption or illegality, but otherwise contracts will be honored.

“There will be no confiscation or expropriation of assets. … Eradicating corruption will be the principal mission,” he said.

[…] The polling firm Consulta Mitofsky predicted Morena allies would take between 56 and 70 seats in the 128-member Senate and between 256 and 291 spots in the 500-seat lower house.  (more)

On NAFTA the bottom line is easily identified.  There are no ongoing negotiations.  The NAFTA fatal flaw, which allows Canada and Mexico to act as pass-throughs for foreign products, is an impossible impasse to overcome.  Neither Mexico or Canada can negotiate away their economic process of importing foreign goods, assembling them, and then using NAFTA to trans-ship the finished product into the U.S market.

Neither Mexico or Canada manufacture much of the product they assemble.  The overwhelming majority of Canadian and Mexican products, including cars, are assembly operations for manufactured goods using parts from Europe and Asia, mostly China.  They do not have the raw materials, infrastructure, or heavy-duty manufacturing plants, to *create* component parts for manufactured goods.  Therefore in order to maintain their three-decades-long economic and trade system they cannot negotiate a NAFTA plan that demands high-content source of origination, for durable goods, from North America.

Nothing can change that.

China has invested tens of billions in ports and transport infrastructure to facilitate the current process.  Those port and transit investments would become functionally obsolescent if Mexico and Canada were forced to stop importing parts for assembly.

♦ In the food sector the Mexican farmer, and by consequence Mexican farm-worker, are caught in the same multinational big AG network.  Archer Daniels Midland (ADM), Monsanto, Nestlé, PepsiCo, Kraft (or, outside the United States, by the company’s alter ego, Mondelēz International).

Once the plowing, planting, nurturing, and harvesting are done, around 80 percent of major crops pass through the hands of four traders: ADM, Bunge, Cargill, and Louis Dreyfus.  This is a controlled market.

For farmers, BIG AG (oligopolies) mean fewer choices of supplier and sometimes no choice at all about whom they will sell to. This leads to “contract farming”, in which farmers grow according to corporate specifications, with all supplies provided by the company, in return for its commitment to purchase the farmers’ output if it is acceptable.

On the Agricultural side of NAFTA president-elect Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador and U.S. President Donald Trump can actually work together.  Neither AMLO, nor Trump, support the continuation of the corporately-controlled, Wall Street profit-driven, status quo.   An interesting dynamic.

Keep in mind this next article about AMLO is from “Reuters”, a media outlet owned, operated, and messaging service of Wall Street:

(Reuters) – Mexico’s next president, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, said on Monday he will seek to remain in NAFTA along with the United States and Canada and that he respects the existing Mexican team renegotiating the trade pact.

Lopez Obrador won a landslide election victory on Sunday, getting more than double the votes of his nearest rival, dealing a resounding blow to establishment parties and becoming the first leftist to win the Mexican presidency since one-party rule ended in 2000.

“We are going to accompany the current government in this negotiation, we are going to be very respectful, and we are going to support the signing of the agreement,” he told Milenio TV in an telephone interview, saying the aim was a deal on the North Atlantic Free Trade Agreement that was good for Mexico. Overall, Obrador represents an ideological outlook almost identical to former U.S. Presidential Candidate Bernie Sanders.  [coincidentally the same as former Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez].   Hollywood celebrities and avowed leftists will likely embrace Labrador in 2018/2019 as they did Chavez in 2009/2010.  Watch, you’ll see.

AMLO has a governing philosophy almost identical to Bernie Sanders; the problem AMLO faces is his Mexican economic policy starts without any underlying Mexican wealth to spread around.  [Again, the Venezuelan issue]  Socialism only works when you have other people’s money, labor, and property to distribute.  The majority of the value in Mexico is owned by outside multinational interests.  Those multinationals will now have to figure out how to deal with a nationalist who despises their ownership and control.

[Again, see big picture Venezuela]

Eventually, in order to make good on his promises, AMLO is going to need to *take* value from private ownership and redistribute that wealth to his constituents.  That process may take a few years, but it is inevitable.   In the history of the world, a socialist economy has never survived itself (without absolute economic capitulation of the citizens).

When that process happens, those entities who have their wealth expropriated will exit the economic system.  It has always been thus; there has never been a socialist economy where that did not happen.. and that process begins the Venezuelan spiral.

The most dangerous time for a rescue swimmer is the moment when he reaches the desperate and drowning man.  The MOST IMPORTANT aspect for President Trump, and for the survival of the United States, is to make sure the U.S. is not pulled under when Mexico begins to drown.

That, my friends, is why we need the Southern Border Wall.  [Regardless of cost.]

Now, think carefully about AMLO’s quote again today:

“We are conscious of the need to maintain good relations with the United States.”

Yeah, I guarantee they are..

Andrés Manuel López Obrador (“AMLO”) Easily Wins Mexican Presidential Election – Hugo Chavez 2.0 Now Running Mexico….

The official announcement is coming momentarily.  All other candidates have conceded.  Looks like Andrés Manuel López Obrador, an avowed soft-Marxist, will EASILY end up with 53 to 59% of the vote and is the next President of Mexico:

Primary platform points:  ♦Amnesty to all drug cartels.  ♦No longer will work with U.S. immigration enforcement.  ♦Nationalize oil industry.  ♦Farm subsidies. ♦Elimination of multinational corporate influence on farming.  ♦Support and assistance for economic growth plan: using •mass migration of Mexican nationals into Southern U.S., •create AmeriMex border region, and •remittance of earnings back to Mexico as initiative for rapid domestic economic growth.

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) – Leftist outsider Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador won Mexico’s presidential election handily on Sunday, exit polls showed, setting the stage for a government that will inherit tense relations with Washington and the scrutiny of nervous investors.

Jose Antonio Meade, the candidate of the ruling centrist Institutional Revolutionary Party, or PRI, conceded defeat to Lopez Obrador, a 64-year-old former Mexico City mayor, within minutes of the polls closing.

“For the good of Mexico, I wish him the very best of success,” Meade said in a speech. Lopez Obrador’s other rivals also conceded that the race was lost.

Lopez Obrador is expected to move Mexico in a more nationalist direction as he becomes the first leftist to rule the country in decades. He has pledged to reduce economic dependence on the United States.  (read more)

López Obrador Wins Mexico 43.7%

López Obrador has won Mexico but its political system is flawed as is most parliamentary type systems. It allows for coalitions to be formed from very different parties. The French have a run off with the two highest winning candidates thus forcing the people to choose between the two. The problem with the Mexico election lies in the promises. The people were fed up with the corruption and they just wanted to throw out whoever is in power. However, Obrador is more like Bernie Sanders. There is NO POSSIBLE means available to him to pay for his ambitious slate of social programs. He will raise taxes dramatically and we will see Mexico spiral downward into 2020. He is illprepared to get rid the government of corruption when the bureacracy is the problem. In fact, many who were deeply involved in the corruption saw the shifting trends and were a part of Obrador’s campaign. It is also not likely that he will make a dent in the unyielding violence of the drug war. The people are fed up with the drug wars which has escalated out of control. There were more homicides last year in Mexico than any time in the last two decades.

The US dollar is still poised to rise against the Peso in the years ahead.

Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó Dispatches Insufferable BBC Pontificating Liberalism…

The BBC’s condescending Emily Maitlis demands support for the European Union and challenges the sovereign authority of Hungary to self-determination.   Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó was having none of that nonsense, and pushed back against little Miss feelings.

.

This occurs on the heels of Italy rebuking the EU immigration platform; and a weakened German Chancellor Angela Merkel having to beg political allies in Bavaria for support:

BERLIN (Reuters) – German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s political future rests in the hands of the Christian Social Union (CSU) on Sunday, when the Bavarian party’s leadership meets to decide whether to accept migration deals she brought back from Brussels.

Nine months after elections that saw her lose votes to the far right, a weakened Merkel was forced to turn to European Union neighbors to help resolve a conflict with her allies after they rebelled against her immigration policy.

The party’s leader, interior minister Horst Seehofer, threatened to turn migrants back from the Bavarian border, a move that would almost certainly precipitate a government collapse.  (read more)

Now 43% of Germans Want Merkel to Resign – More than She Was Elected With!

The polls in Germany show that discontent is now rising and 43% of the people want Merkel to resign. She only won 32.8% to begin with. Germany is also shifting and nationalism is rising, which is what the AfD is all about these days. A YouGov survey showed that 43% of Germans now want her to leave office, compared with 42% who want her to remain. The no opinion came in at 15%. Even in her own CDU-CSU coalition, 27% want to see her resign.

The survey demonstrates that the refugee policy Merkel initiated without a European vote is not merely tearing the EU apart, but Germany as well. Italy has warned that the very survival of the EU is at stake over the refugee migration crisis. Meanwhile, Merkel is increasingly in a difficult position as she fights an internal battle with her coalition partner, the Bavarian CSU, over imposing border controls that Merkel believes risks undermining the Schengen free movement zone. But she is the one that invited the refugees to begin with unilaterally.

There was an emergency summit in Brussels in a bid to try and create a “European solution” to the migration crisis. EU leaders gathered for an emergency summit on migration but this was really an attempt to show support for Angela Merkel’s government. The refugee migration crisis has exposed deep divisions in the EU bloc over how to deal with African and Middle Eastern migration consisting of more than 95%+ males and has nothing to do with Syrian refugees from war. They are not even skilled laborers. People who migrated from India even to Britain had to speak the language and have some skill. The USA has similar criteria. This migration goes against all historical precedent. This is just an attempt to help Merkel who has become the real face of Europe worldwide.

Italy will No Longer Recuse Migrant Ships from Libya

Italy will no longer rescue immigrants sailing from Libya. They have withdrawn their Italian Coast Guard and instructed captains of vessels that from now on, ships in the area off Libya should apply for help to the Libyan Coast Guard. Up to now, the Italian Coast Guard has played an important role in coordinating refugee rescue operations outside its own waters. According to Maritime Law, the coordinator of a rescue operation must provide the refugees with a safe haven. Italy will no longer provide that status off the coast of a foreign country. Ital began recusing ships back in 2015. Under Maritime Law, once they did that, they were obligated to give them shelter. Here back in 2015, they recused 1,000 but most of these are just men, not families with women and children.

Italy & Refugee Crisis

The Refugee Crisis in Europe is tearing it apart and all of this began with a unilateral decision by Merkel when her polls declined because of her tough policy on Greece. The refusal to compensate Italy and to demand they take in refugees but denies them the right to send them north proves the very point that I have been getting from Italy behind the curtain – they feel they are an occupied country.

Italy said it will seize two migrant rescue ships in the Mediterranean, as this refugee policy of the EU continues to worsen. We are up against politicians in Brussels and Germany who simply refuse to admit that they made serious mistakes. They fear that admitting that will ruin their personal careers so the entire European Union must suffer. Now the two German NGO ships carrying refugees who are really economic migrants looking for a free lunch “will be seized” to determine their legal status according to Italy.

The response from Italy comes on the heels of the insensitive remarks of French President Emmanuel Macron who called this the “leprosy” of anti-EU feeling, which is only angering the Italian populist government and the people. This is where this feeling that is related to me is building that they have NO SAY in the fate of their own country and they have simply become an occupied country as if they lost the war and Germany won.

Italy sparked the fresh round of discontent earlier this month when it refused to take in the Aquarius refugee ship, which was carrying 630 migrants rescued off the coast of North Africa. Malta also refused to accept the ship and so it went off to Spain. If Spain refuses, Greece, and Portugal, then perhaps the ships will go beyond the Pillars of Hercules and sail to France and Belgium so Brussels can be inundated itself. Perhaps then the policy will change.

President Trump Drops $200 Billion M.O.A.T on Red Dragon (Beijing)…

When you plant your tree in another man’s orchard, you might end up paying for your own apples; it’s a risk you take…

….and President Trump knows how to use that leverage better than anyone could possibly fathom; because in this metaphor Beijing relies upon the U.S. for both the seeds and the harvest.  President Trump drops the $200b M.O.A.T (Mother of All Tariffs):

White House – On Friday, I announced plans for tariffs on $50 billion worth of imports from China. These tariffs are being imposed to encourage China to change the unfair practices identified in the Section 301 action with respect to technology and innovation. They also serve as an initial step toward bringing balance to our trade relationship with China.

However and unfortunately, China has determined that it will raise tariffs on $50 billion worth of United States exports. China apparently has no intention of changing its unfair practices related to the acquisition of American intellectual property and technology. Rather than altering those practices, it is now threatening United States companies, workers, and farmers who have done nothing wrong.

This latest action by China clearly indicates its determination to keep the United States at a permanent and unfair disadvantage, which is reflected in our massive $376 billion trade imbalance in goods. This is unacceptable. Further action must be taken to encourage China to change its unfair practices, open its market to United States goods, and accept a more balanced trade relationship with the United States.

Therefore, today, I directed the United States Trade Representative to identify $200 billion worth of Chinese goods for additional tariffs at a rate of 10 percent. After the legal process is complete, these tariffs will go into effect if China refuses to change its practices, and also if it insists on going forward with the new tariffs that it has recently announced. If China increases its tariffs yet again, we will meet that action by pursuing additional tariffs on another $200 billion of goods. The trade relationship between the United States and China must be much more equitable.

I have an excellent relationship with President Xi, and we will continue working together on many issues. But the United States will no longer be taken advantage of on trade by China and other countries in the world.

We will continue using all available tools to create a better and fairer trading system for all Americans.

~ President Donald Trump

Historic Chinese geopolitical policy, vis-a-vis their totalitarian control over political sentiment (action) and diplomacy through silence, is evident in the strategic use of the space between carefully chosen words, not just the words themselves.

Each time China takes aggressive action (red dragon) China projects a panda face through silence and non-response to opinion of that action;…. and the action continues. The red dragon has a tendency to say one necessary thing publicly, while manipulating another necessary thing privately.  The Art of War.

President Trump is the first U.S. President to understand how the red dragon hides behind the panda mask.

It is specifically because he understands that Panda is a mask that President Trump messages warmth toward the Chinese people, and pours vociferous praise upon Xi Jinping, while simultaneously confronting the geopolitical doctrine of the Xi regime.

In essence Trump is mirroring the behavior of China while confronting their economic duplicity.

President Trump will not back down from his position; the U.S. holds all of the leverage and the issue must be addressed.  President Trump has waiting three decades for this moment.  This President and his team are entirely prepared for this.

We are finally confronting the geopolitical Red Dragon, China!

The Olive branch and arrows denote the power of peace and war. The symbol in any figure’s right hand has more significance than one in its left hand. Also important is the direction faced by the symbols central figure. The emphasis on the eagles stare signifies the preferred disposition. An eagle holding an arrow also symbolizes the war for freedom, and its use is commonly referred to the liberation fight of righteous people from abusive influence. The eagle on the original seal created for the Office of the President showed the gaze upon the arrows.

The Eagle and the Arrow – An Aesop’s Fable

An Eagle was soaring through the air. Suddenly it heard the whizz of an Arrow, and felt the dart pierce its breast. Slowly it fluttered down to earth. Its lifeblood pouring out. Looking at the Arrow with which it had been shot, the Eagle realized that the deadly shaft had been feathered with one of its own plumes.

Angela Merkel Down for the Count?

There are some saying that Angela Merkel will be overthrown in a matter of weeks and others saying that there is no plot to remove her. Nevertheless, scandal rising in Germany over the refugee crisis keeps brewing behind the curtain. Cyclically, 2018 may be a peak in Merkel’s career despite what people are trying to deny.

Angela Merkel was born in Hamburg, West Germany, on July 17, 1954, and was actually trained as a physicist. She entered politics after the 1989 fall of the Berlin Wall. She eventually rose to the position of chairwoman of the Christian Democratic Union party becoming Germany’s first female chancellor. Moreover, Merkel has actually become the best-known politician in Europe whose face is more recognized than anyone else in Europe no less Brussels.

Merkel grew up in a rural area of the German Democratic Republic or East Germany. She studied physics at the University of Leipzig, earning a doctorate in 1978, and later worked as a chemist at the Central Institute for Physical Chemistry, Academy of Sciences from 1978 to 1990. She has obviously not made the connection between physics and the economy for if she just looked at the laws of thermodynamics she would have an epiphany and realize that there MUST be a business cycle.

Nevertheless, with the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, Germany was caught up in a euphoric moment and many expected East Germans to have the same work-ethics as those in the West as well as an understanding of the way things really worked. Merkel joined the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) political party and was quickly appointed to Helmut Kohl’s cabinet as minister for women and youth. She rose simply because she was a woman and from the East. It made good political propaganda. Merkel would later serve as minister for the environment and nuclear safety.

The political tide began to change and with Kohl’s defeat in the 1998 general election, she was named secretary-general of the CDU. Then in 2000, Angela Merkel was chosen party leader, but she lost the CDU candidacy for the chancellor to Edmund Stoiber in 2002.

Finally, on October 10th, 2005 Germany was on the brink of a new and volatile political era until a deal was cut that made the conservative leader Angela Merkel the country’s first ever woman chancellor. It came only after three weeks of a long, complicated dispute over the previous month’s indecisive election, Gerhard Schröder announced he was resigning. Angela Merkel became chancellor leading a “grand coalition” between her Christian Democrat party and its Bavarian ally the Christian Social Union, and Schröder’s Social Democrats.

Many questioned just how long such a coalition would last. Nonetheless, Schröder’s resignation came with a huge price tag. The Social Democrats emerged from days of secret negotiations with eight seats in Germany’s new cabinet and virtually all the big portfolios – including foreign, finance, health, environment, and transport. Merkel gave up tremendous economic power to become chancellor with the CDU taking only six cabinet posts. Merkel denied that the Social Democrats had got all the best jobs, and instead called it a “new beginning for Germany”.

Therefore, Merkel became Germany’s first female chancellor since it became a nation in 1871 who was also from East Germany fulfilling a dual role as the first female chancellor and the first East German chancellor to take control of Germany. Merkel was then elected to a second term in 2009.

Angela Merkel was reelected for a fourth term as chancellor in September 2017 with a vote that was well below 35%. However, although her CDU party held its majority in the Bundestag, because of her policy on allowing all the refugees into Germany, the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) won 13% emerging as the new third-largest group in parliament for the first time a right-wing political party regained any power since 1961.

Following the 2017 election, political problems surfaced by mid-November 2017 in the attempt to form a new government coalition collapsed. The Free Democratic Party (FDP) pulled out of talks with the CDU/CSU and the Greens, over differences regarding the refugee crisis.

The entire refugee crisis is clearly going to be Merkel’s downfall. Then in March 2018, the SPD voted to renew its coalition with the CDU after its leader Martin Schulz resigned. This step finally cleared a path for Merkel to retain the position as chancellor, but she would have to give up financial control to the socialists to maintain her political power for a fourth term.

Nevertheless, the refugee crisis and the mismanagement of the entire issue has resulted in clashes between Angela Merkel and German interior minister Horst Seehofer. There is a serious political crisis brewing where Merkel could be forced out of her chancellor position.
