House Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Jim Jordan delivered opening remarks before the questioning of Attorney General Merrick Garland today.  Jim Jordan notes the Biden administration’s rush to embrace the totalitarian ideals of communism has triggered a great national awakening.

Now what the administration fears, is the pushback.  The need for control is a reaction to fear.  WATCH:

U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland Refuses DOJ Ethics Review, Claims Conflict of Interest Ethics Rules Do Not Apply to Biden Administration

Representative Mike Johnson (R-LA) questioned U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland about his clear conflict of interest today surrounding the Attorney General’s instructions for FBI agents to investigate parents who question school board curriculum.  Merrick Garland’s daughter is married to the co-founder of the Critical Race Theory educational material being purchased by the school boards. The exact CRT material being directly challenged by the parents Garland has instructed the FBI to investigate.

In a clear conflict of interest, Merrick Garland is using his office to protect the income and investments of his son-in-law’s business.  However, when questioned about this conflict today, Merrick Garland says he will refuse to accept any ethical review of his conduct.  WATCH:

BACKGROUND – U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland recently instructed the FBI to begin investigating parents who confront school board administrators over Critical Race Theory indoctrination material. The U.S. Department of Justice issued a memorandum to the FBI instructing them to initiate investigations of any parent attending a local school board meeting who might be viewed as confrontational, intimidating or harassing.

Attorney General Merrick Garland’s daughter is Rebecca Garland. In 2018 Rebecca Garland married Xan Tanner [LINK]. Mr. Xan Tanner is the current co-founder of a controversial education service company called Panorama Education. [LINK and LINK] Panorama Education is the “social learning” resource material provider to school districts and teachers that teach Critical Race Theory.

“By asking students to reflect on their experiences of equity and inclusion in school, education leaders can gather actionable data to understand and improve the racial and cultural climate on campus.” ~ Panorama Education, Xan Tanner Co-founder

Conflict of interest much?

Yes, the Attorney General is instructing the FBI to investigate parents who might pose a financial threat to the business of his daughter’s husband.

Yes, Merrick Garland’s daughter is married to the founder of the company who helps schools, teachers and staff deal with the modern challenges of “systemic racism” by “reimagining” the way to social learning “through an equity lens”. As you have seen in the linguistic judo presented by the education material providers in the past, that’s exactly what CRT education materials are about.

Last month Garland’s son-in-law raised money, at least $60 million, to expand their business operation.

September 2021 – Panorama Education, which has built out a K-12 education software platform, has raised $60 million in a Series C round of funding led by General Atlantic.

Existing backers Owl Ventures, Emerson Collective, Uncork Capital, the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative and Tao Capital Partners also participated in the financing, which brings the Boston-based company’s total raised since its 2012 inception to $105 million.

Panorama declined to reveal at what valuation the Series C was raised, nor did it provide any specific financial growth metrics. CEO and co-founder Aaron Feuer did say the company now serves 13 million students in 23,000 schools across the United States, which means that 25% of American students are enrolled in a district served by Panorama today.

Over 50 of the largest 100 school districts and state agencies in the country use its platform. In total, more than 1,500 school districts are among its customers. Clients include the New York City Department of EducationClark County School District in NevadaDallas ISD in Texas and the Hawaii Department of Education, among others.

Since March 2020, Panorama has added 700 school districts to its customer base, nearly doubling the 800 it served just 18 months prior, according to Feuer. September 2021, Panorama Education, Xan Tanner, raised $60,000,000 to expand operations. October 4, 2021, Xan Tanner’s father-in-law, U.S. AG Merrick Garland, tells the FBI to investigate any potential parental interference/disruption that might impede his son-in-law’s business interests….

Alarming Wage Report Not Being Discussed in Financial Media – Blue Collar Wages DECREASED in Third Quarter, While Inflation Skyrocketed

Posted originally on the conservative tree house on October 21, 2021 | Sundance | 455 Comments

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released the third quarter review of average weekly wages [Main Data Here].  The results of the year-over-year comparison should alarm everyone.  This is a very serious data point that likely means we are in a recession, it just has not been quantified yet.

By now, everyone knows the term “stagflation”, which means a stagnant economy and large inflation (price increases), the easiest comparison is Jimmy Carter economic program in the 1970’s.  However, let me assure you what this latest BLS release foretells is not that.  This is far more serious than stagflation.  I am not an alarmist, but I am encouraging everyone to take this economic data seriously.

In this graphic I have modified the spread sheet to focus attention on the part that really matters. [Original Data Table 2 Here]  What you are seeing here is a comparison of weekly wages for the third quarter (July, Aug, Sept) of this year, compared to the weekly average wages in 2020:

Weekly wages went up a sum total of seven bucks [$7/1,000 = 0.7%] year over year.  THAT is ridiculously low.  However, worse yet look at all the categories of workers who saw an actual decline in wages.   This is not a decline in wage value, this is an actual decline in net wages earned.  WAGES HAVE DROPPED !

This is not only saying wages are failing to keep up with inflation, that part is beyond obvious, the data shows actual declines in wages for full time workers.  This is far more concerning, check that…. this is four alarm fire – running around the neighborhood naked and panicked level concerning… when you take actual declines in wages and factor in the September inflation numbers [Main Data Here].

Avg. weekly wages can drop if massive numbers of people enter the workforce in specific low paying jobs.  However, this is not that, because employment growth has been weak and minimal at best; missing all expectations to the downside.   The data on wages declining year-over-year is a genuine decrease in average wages earned.

♦ Now Factor Inflation – The inflation rate is stunning [Table 7 data Here].   Examples: Beef costs 20% more (year over year).  Bacon costs 20% more. Eggs cost 12% more. Peanut butter costs 10% more. Home heating oil costs 42% more.  Unleaded gasoline costs 43% more.  Natural gas costs 20% more.  Used cars are 24% more. The list goes on (SEE HERE).

I don’t have to tell you this, you can see it in your receipt at the grocery store and in the gas pumps at your local convenient store.  But the point is that massive inflation is eating our paychecks and the inflation is getting worse, not better.  Prices continue to skyrocket and the dollar continues to be weakened.

When you overlay the inflation, massive price increases in critical goods that middle-class Americans purchase every day; and when you overlay the massive energy cost increases and the cost of home heating oil this winter; and THEN you consider the reality that wages are actually lower than a year ago, well, it is a perfect storm.

CTH previously stated that from a macro perspective home values peaked in the last two weeks of May and first two weeks of June.   Other than institutional investors buying real estate because they need to hold a tangible asset; and some regions where home values are driven by COVID migration patterns; we do not see blue collar working class families purchasing homes, replacement vehicles or expensive durable goods.

Disposable income has been crushed in the past six months.  Now we are seeing data to quantify just how bad the issue is.   With wages declining and prices increasing, the likelihood the 3rd quarter GDP (July, Aug, Sept) will show a contraction is very high.  [Note Q3 GDP release is the first Friday in November]

This is beyond stagflation, because the economy is not only stagnant with inflation high, but also because actual weekly wages have dropped.  Overall Main Street consumer purchasing is now focused on staple goods like housing, food, fuel and energy costs.

Some have speculated that a “Great Reset” includes the collapse of the economy to such an extent that government will be the only source of financial stability.  I’m not sure if it will get to that level, but this latest BLS data release showing a contraction in wages for the blue collar bread winners is very alarming.

What is it like in your neighborhood?  What types of prices for gasoline and foodstuffs are you encountering?

Florida Ports are Open for Business

Armstrong Economics Blog/Inflation Re-Posted Oct 21, 2021 by Martin Armstrong

Florida’s Governor Ron DeSantis proudly announced: “Florida ports are open for business!” The Jacksonville Port Authority (“Jaxport”) is on board and has received a record number of containers at 1.4 million this fiscal year alone. Jaxport CEO Eric Green said that Florida is not experiencing the same congestion back up issues as California and New York ports. Additionally, Green said Jaxport has the space for additional freights and is welcoming ships to reroute to the Sunshine State.

While the Biden Administration begged the two largest ports in California to begin 24/7 operations, Jaxport has been running 24/7 for some time. “Not only is Florida open for more business, Florida has the critical infrastructure, essential manpower and additional capacity for more business,” AGX Freight Chief Operation Officer Ike Sherlock commented. Although some may point to logistical concerns and fuel costs, ships that are idling for nearly two weeks are losing money on both in addition to labor costs.

This could be a viable option to repair supply chain constraints. The only reason for the Biden Administration to avoid focusing on Florida’s ports capacity would be political.

Bill Gates’ Body Language Decoded

Armstrong Economics Blog/Corruption Re-Posted Oct 21, 2021 by Martin Armstrong

Communication Professor Alex Lyon reacts to Bill Gates’ interview on PBS with Judy Woodruff regarding Jeffrey Epstein. There is an entire field devoted to decoding body language and indeed communication can be nonverbal. Lyon points out numerous cues that make Gates look “hinky” or suspicious. Gates’ body language and nonverbal cues create awkward verbal responses. Woodruff simply asked Gates why he met with Jeffrey Epstein, but she never received a clear answer.

Lyon pointed out Gates’ suspicious “distracting body language” such as shifting in his chair, increased eye movement, and wringing his hands and fingers. The “philanthropist” was notably distressed. If he were playing a game of poker, these would be Gates’ tells, as Lyon points out.

The analyst notes two major layers of misalignment between the questions and answers and Gates’ nonverbal clues. It took Gates 2.6 seconds to answer questions unrelated to Epstein, but it took him around 6.7 seconds to answer anything Epstein-related. “His mind is the inside of a maraca and he’s struggling to keep it organized,” Lyon noted.

This is not a candid interview and Gates uses multiple strategies to protect himself. He repeatedly claims that he regrets having dinner with Epstein. The word “dinner” was selected as a minimization tactic to make the matter seem less harmful. Saying he attended “meetings,” “secret meetings,” or had “dinner at Jeffrey Epstein’s personal home” would likely not downplay the situation. “Quantity” is another conversational maxim that says a discussion flows when the speaker provides an adequate amount of information. All of his answers related to Epstein are less than half the length of his other questions. In other words, he is trying to avoid answering the questions.

The most cringeworthy part of the interview comes when Woodruff asks Gates if he learned a lesson. That should have been an easy answer. “Well, he’s dead, so… I’m very proud of what we’ve done in philanthropy…” This technique is called “bolstering,” where the speaker refocuses the conversation to all of their positive qualities, good actions, and behaviors. Clearly, Bill Gates did not learn a lesson, nor is he willing to disclose why he had an ongoing relationship with Jeffrey Epstein since at least 2013. Based on body language alone, Gates is certainly “hinky.”

Senile Senators led by a Senile President

Armstrong Economics Blog/Politics Re-Posted Oct 21, 2021 by Martin Armstrong

Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA), who is also a physician, has suggested that the US begin implementing cognition tests for government leaders. “I’m told that there have been senators in the past who, at the end of their Senate terms were senile,” Cassidy said in an interview with Axios on HBO. “I’m told that was true of senators of both parties.” Knowing that these are the people who were or have been in a position to alter your life drastically should absolutely frighten you.

“It’s usually noticeable. So anybody in a position of responsibility who may potentially be on that slope, that is of concern. And I’m saying this as a doctor,” Cassidy stated. He does not mention any names, but it seems as if he is pointing to none other than President Joe Biden. Biden has leaders, citizens, and supporters concerned about his mental health. There is a reason why he is not allowed to answer unapproved questions from reporters. Democrats had no problem pointing out Joe’s obvious cognitive decline while competing against him. “There are definitely moments when you listen to Joe Biden and you just wonder,” Senator Booker (D-NJ) once said.

Former President Trump was quite pleased with his results on the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, which is designed to detect cognitive impairments such as Alzheimer’s or dementia. “I got a perfect mark. And the doctors said, ‘Very few people can do that. Very few people get that. You understand,’” Trump told reporters. The test measures cognitive decline, not humbleness. “[Biden] should take the same exact test, a very standard test. I took it at Walter Reed Medical Center in front of doctors,” Trump later said. Biden refused.

Former White House physician Ronny Jackson and 14 other lawmakers urged Biden to take the Montreal Cognitive Assessment. Biden’s handlers said that he would take the test at a later date, but nothing was announced (perhaps they forgot). The bar has never been so low for the “leader of the free world.”

FDA Approves Mix n Match Booster Shots For Everyone – Pick a Jab, Any Jab

Posted originally on the conservative tree house on October 20, 2021 | Sundance | 361 Comments

Step right up folks and pick your next jab, the FDA has approved mix-n-match booster shots for everyone.   Step right up and take your jab, any jab, just pick a jab, and you too can keep your mandatory vaccine passport up to date.  Boosters for all, folks… bring your friends… come one, come all.

WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. regulators on Wednesday signed off on extending COVID-19 boosters to Americans who got the Moderna or Johnson & Johnson vaccine and said anyone eligible for an extra dose can get a brand different from the one they received initially.

The Food and Drug Administration’s decisions mark a big step toward expanding the U.S. booster campaign, which began with extra doses of the Pfizer vaccine last month. But before more people roll up their sleeves, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will consult an expert panel Thursday before finalizing official recommendations for who should get boosters and when.

[…] Specifically, the FDA authorized a third Moderna shot for seniors and others at high risk from COVID-19 because of their health problems, jobs or living conditions — six months after their last shot. One big change: Moderna’s booster will be half the dose that’s used for the first two shots, based on company data showing that was plenty to rev up immunity again.

For J&J’s single-shot vaccine, the FDA said all U.S. recipients, no matter their age, could get a second dose at least two months following their initial vaccination.

[…] As for mixing and matching, the FDA said it’s OK to use any brand for the booster regardless of which vaccination people got first. The interchangeability of the shots is expected to speed the booster campaign, particularly in nursing homes and other institutional settings where residents have received different shots over time. Florida Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo Discusses Education Health Policy and Mask Mandates Without Scientific Support

Posted originally on the conservative tree house on October 20, 2021 | Sundance | 80 Comments

Florida’s new Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo appeared alongside Governor Ron DeSantis today in Brevard County during an event to focus on education policy.  During part of the press availability, Dr. Ladapo outlined the DeSantis administration’s position on the forced masking of kids in schools.

The overarching policies being advanced by the DeSantis administration center around allowing parents and individuals to make their own health and education decisions.  With the federal government continually pushing more intervention into the rights of states to determine their own COVID policies, Florida appears to be one of the strongest states pushing back. WATCH:

TITUSVILLE, Fla. – Today, Governor Ron DeSantis was joined by parents who were targeted in a recent memo from Attorney General Merrick Garland that attempted to silence parents who speak out to protect their children. The memo was issued following a letter from the National School Board Association to President Biden, which likened parents who oppose the masking of kindergartners and teaching critical race theory in public schools to “domestic terrorists.”

The full press availability is below including the remarks from Governor DeSantis and regional officials.

On October 11, the Florida School Board Association issued a response to the National School Boards Association, voicing their concerns with the memo and urging the National Association to acknowledge their request is federal overreach. Also joining the Governor were members of local law enforcement and state attorneys who are capable of assessing threats in their community without meddling by federal bureaucrats.

“The Federal Government would have you believe that parents who care about their children’s upbringing are a menace to society; in Florida we won’t allow it,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. “Debate is welcome in the state of Florida and should be welcome anywhere in the United States. If that debate turns into anything that’s not peaceful, then we have the best law enforcement in the nation to handle it. We don’t need the federal government investigating and intimidating parents in an attempt to squelch dissent. Today, I was proud to support the parents who won’t be silenced by the Biden Administration’s threats.”

“The White House’s attempt to silence and intimidate parents who are outspoken about critical race theory indoctrinating our children is simply un-American,” said Lt. Governor Jeanette Nuñez. “Governor DeSantis and I will continue to stand up for the rights and liberties of Floridians and push back against Biden’s egregious federal overreach.”

“I stand with Governor DeSantis against the Biden Administration’s blatant federal overreach,” said Public Safety Czar Larry Keefe. “We should be encouraging parental engagement in a child’s education, not weaponizing the federal government to implore intimidation tactics to prevent it. When laws are broken, local law enforcement is equipped to ensure the safety of public officials, and they don’t need federal bureaucrats in Washington, D.C., to tell them how to do their job.”

“The Biden Administration’s attempt to trample all over the First Amendment rights of concerned parents and create a chilling effect on free speech is un-American,” said Education Commissioner Richard Corcoran. “It is not the place of any government to pick winners and losers amongst those who voice their opinions. In Florida, we will fight for every parent and we will fight for every child and will not allow the federal government to steer public discourse through fear and intimidation.”

“Our children do not belong to the federal government nor to the school boards, they belong to their parents,” said Senator Debbie Mayfield. “Parents have every right to be involved in their child’s education and should not be silenced by the federal government. I want to thank Governor DeSantis for continuing to fight for Florida’s parents and children.”

Parents have the right to be involved in their child’s education and concerned parents from across the country have taken advantage of their first amendment right to free speech and have expressed their opposition to the radical agendas pursued by some school boards. The memo issued by the Attorney General Merrick Garland aims to silence those concerned parents and effectively chill expression of free speech. (LINK)

Illinois Sheriffs Say They Will Not Help Cover Chicago Police Shortage Due to Vaccine Mandate

Posted originally on the conservative tree house on October 20, 2021 | Sundance | 233 Comments

Sheriff’s offices surrounding the metropolitan area of Chicago are stating they will not send their officers to cover the shortfall in city police officers as an outcome of the vaccine mandate.  Keep in mind the elected county sheriff is the highest constitutional officer inside each region.

Chicago Mayor Lightfoot has released all the city officers who refused the vaccine mandate.  Factually it makes no sense according to DuPage County Sheriff James Mendrick, who points out that his office does not have mandatory vaccines and as a result could only be providing assistance with officers who may or may not be vaccinated.

“It doesn’t make sense to say, ‘I only want my residents touching vaccinated people, but I’m going to send all these potentially unvaccinated people from other municipalities to replace them,’” Mendrick said.

CHICAGO –  Two suburban sheriffs said they would not send their deputies to Chicago to help with potential staffing shortages amid a feud between the mayor and a police union surrounding vaccine mandates.

Kane County Sheriff Ron Hain (D) told the Chicago Tribune he did not “feel like the onus is on us to go in there in an emergency situation that was created by poor government and a lack of support the officers receive.”

Similarly, Kendall County Sheriff Dwight Baird (R) said he was not willing to put his officers at risk to respond to Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s (D) “self-induced emergency,” the Tribune reported. (read more)

Mayor Lightfoot claims that vaccinated people in Chicago cannot carry and/or transmit the COVID-19 virus.  As a result, she feels the police have a public obligation to get vaccinated so they do not carry the virus in the community.  The mayor has stated she does not want her community exposed to first-responders who may carry the virus, and the vaccination is the only way to eliminate that concern.  This is the cornerstone claim of her public remarks. {link}

The policy of the mayor is grounded in a claim that is totally and utterly refuted by all science.  Vaccinated people carry, transmit and shed the SARS-CoV-2 virus just like non-vaccinated people.  Actually, there is scientific evidence that vaccinated people who contract the virus (so called “breakthrough cases”) factually end up with a much higher viral load, and shed the virus at a much higher rate than non-vaccinated persons.

As a result, a genuine public health policy would be the exact opposite of what Lightfoot is claiming.  If you wanted to keep exposure to the virus at a minimum for those in the public who encounter first-responders, it would actually be better policy to have first-responders be unvaccinated.  The unvaccinated are less of a risk to the general population by a factual outcome of their carrying/shedding less virus.

In another policy maneuver to force the police to get vaccinated, “Chicago Police Superintendent David O. Brown said that those officers who do choose to retire rather than follow City Hall’s orders “may be denied retirement credentials.”  (link)  Chicago police officials made it clear on Thursday that officers who refused to comply with the city’s mandate risk being disciplined or fired.
